Andrew Lord is an artist whose works bring together elements of paintings, sculptures, and crafts into a truce whose instability holds the viewer’s attention. Lord is part of a generation of artists, including Francesco Clemente, Julian Schnabel, Tony Cragg, and Sandro Chia, who distanced themselves from the characteristics of conceptualism and minimalism in favor of a more sensual narrative, thereby contributing to a generational shift in art in the 1980s.
